A(nother) job that would suck

I did my undergrad in business. I did my masters in education administration. I like to have problems that can be solved. I like math. I like puzzles. In my undergrad, I had a hard time picking non-business electives because I had very little interest in other subjects.

Several years into my career, I still love business (the kind of business I'm in anyway). I often look at the professions of other people and think 'how great for you!' but man, I would hate that line of work. Jobs I admire but take a different personality than my own include: Public Relations, Fundraiser, Event Planner, Teacher, Social Worker, Nurse.

But the job that would suck the most (for me) is Children's Photography. I think it would be okay to do babies, but kids who move around, especially if you want more than one kid in the shot? Shoot me now.

We were at a wedding on the weekend. It was a beautiful day in a very picturesque spot. After Maggie cleared a table of all its glassware at the swanky reception before dinner, I decided to take the monsters outside and try to get a good picture of them in their fancy duds. I seriously took over 100 shots. Here are the BEST three:

They're all standing still at least. The smiles are fake and forced.

More fake smiles. Bart is actually airborne in this shot.

I swear, they're normally pretty cute kids with good smiles.

Remember these were the best ones! Children's Photographers: I salute you!

Aw, but they're cute!
Taking pictures of kids - bleh. My oldest has decided that we're trying to steal her soul or something, so she does all sorts of weird contortions to avoid the camera.

Those are all great shots - I love the second one.

Your kids are seriously cute!

You know, I never considered that to be one of "those jobs"

And, to think, they usually get such good pictures.

Child Photographers, I too salute you.

I hear you on this one. My son is going grow up thinking I cannot take photos but ummm hello HE turns his head in every photo. On the flip side I can tell you what the back of his head is VERY cute and we can track how long or short his hair was...

I like the air borne shot but they are all cute!

I just can't get over how big Maggie is getting, and they all really look alike in these!

The second one is my favorite too.

I like the more candid photos; their little personalities are peeking out.

Your kids are so freakin cute.

I agree with you - there are many jobs I'm glad other people like doing so that I don't have to.

LOL I am totally with you. This weekend at the cottage my sister kept saying to M 'smile' and he would squeeze his eyes shut and make this huge silly smile. I kept telling her, just take the photo, stop asking him to smile :)

Those are FUNNY. You know, when I look at my own pics from childhood, these kinds are my favorites. They make me laugh and really remember how fun it was to be a kid.

Your children really are beautiful. Great job getting them all dressed up at the same time! That's a serious accomplishment.

I know what you mean! But I think the pictures turned out pretty good. The second one is awesome!

You're too hard on yourself. The best kids photos are the ones where they are themselves (i.e. Bart jumping).

whenever my job gets me down I think of jobs that I would really hate. To me the worst would be the person who pours the teriyaki sauce on the stir fry at Teriyaki Experience. Hands down worst job.

They're all great, but the second one is best.

You're right about it being up there as one of the worst jobs. Last time getting portraits of the kids was pretty miserable. If you don't have a kid who's a ham for the camera, it's pretty much a crap shot if you're gonna get a nice picture.
But that said, I thought those you posted were great! i LOVED the one of Bart jumping!

But they are all adorable! Also, I love Maggie's dress.
