Some random items for a Monday

While in the Wal-Mart parking lot, walking to my car with my three children at 10:00 AM, a thirty-something, muscle-head guy smiled and said hello. I nodded politely and proceeded to strap in three kids, then I went back to transfer my purchases from the cart to the trunk. As I turned to return the cart, the muscle-head was right there. He said: “I just had to come back and tell you that you’re absolutely gorgeous.” Creepy?

Lisa scored a goal in her soccer game last week. It was her first official goal in a game (she has scored a couple in scrimmages). This is her fourth season playing. It was the game-winning goal and it was spectacular… first a breakaway down the field, then some fancy manoeuvring around two defensemen, then a strong kick to the top right-hand corner of the net. The (awesome) coaches and other parents elevated her up and over cloud nine. We celebrated with ice cream.

We’ve officially changed our dining room into a den. We don’t do a lot of formal dining, and the room is far more practical as an art/computer/gaming/tv room. We just need to take down the damned chandelier before Homer or I knock ourselves unconscious.

Maggie insisted on wearing a silver tiara with pink, fluffy stuff on it to daycare today. Insisted. I was prepared to explain the accessory to the teacher when she said “Maggie, you remembered to wear your crown for fairytale week!” Maggie is two.

We’ve had A LOT of rain this summer. The flowers in my garden have never looked better. Note to self: watering required for nice flowers. The sad part of this is that we have underground sprinklers. All I have to do program the little box to water the flowers, but I could never be bothered before. I get it now.

I have a pile of papers that need to be filed/dealt with on the corner of my desk. The pile is 8 inches tall and I plan to tackle it by dealing with one inch a day. The pile has been building for weeks, so 8 days is a reasonable goal, I think.

um YES creepy
isn't it amazing the stuff they remember? Smart kid! Of course, O wants to wear crowns to school everyday . . . it would probably be even worse if it was pink and fluffy

I like random things! I love that Maggie remembered her tiara. Kids are amazing like that.

Yes to the creepy about the guy in the Wal-mart lot...

Love the flowers looking great story! My husband was totally complaining that none of the millions of bulbs he planted came up but then I started watering everything and LOW AND BEHOLD they came up. I would die for a programmable in ground watering system!!!

Sadly, lots of rain is also good for weeds. Just look at my flowerbeds, Gorgeous. ;)

I say, super creepy

Yes rain is good for flowers but my veggies are drowning (in their pots). I am a bit tired of all this mixed up weather. But then I am in the office all day so why do I care. As long as it is nice next week when I am on holiday (right!)

GEEEZ, that is SUPER creepy. I have one hanging planter of flowers and I remember to water it whenever it starts looking like it's dead. I'm so great at gardening.

Creepy? YES! But also, oddly, complimentary.

We did the same thing with our dining room, turned it into a toy room. I took a carabeener (sp?) and hoisted up the chandilier. It gives good light, even if it looks a little funny that way.

I love the idea of one inch a day. Someday in the far, far future when I tackle paper work piles, I am going to use your system.

My mom used to get creeps like that all the time. She was a total magnet.

Creepy, but a tad flattering? Unless you see him again, in which case it becomes VERY CREEPY OMG.

Also, I can't believe Maggie remembered fairy tale week. I wonder if this is a sign of an impending obsession with princesses a la Dooce's Leta.

Creepy but also flattering!

Maggie is so smart. She must've been really looking forward to Fairytale Week to remember! I swear my 3-year-old nephew has a photographic memory. The last time I saw him I was wearing a red shirt (with Oscar the Grouch on it) and he said, "You wore that last year when we all went camping." Um, sure?

Uh, what a weirdo. I mean, what did he think was going to happen, that you were going to throw your ankles up over your shoulders there at the Walmart? (well, I suppose, you WERE at Walmart... so maybe he had a point there) What on earth do you say to such a thing?! Thanks, now get away from me before I call the cops???

Don't you hate when your kids are smarter than you are? Like with the tiara. Or, when they barf on you after you told them they were fine, just fine, put your shoes on. Um, not that that's ever happened to me.

Ewww, yeah, super creepy. Way to go Lisa! It sure is great when your kids are heroes, eh? Good call on the dining room. Mine is currently doubling as a random paper storage area. Nice job Maggie...good remembering! And yes, growing things do prefer water (damn them!)

Our grass has also been nice and green! We have (had) an inground sprinkler system , except the husband forget to blow the lines and they froze and ruptured two years ago!! He was busy golfing and sleeping that fall.

Creepy.
Awesome- way to go!
Where are you putting your furniture? I want to make our formal dining room into a play room.
Too funny- what excuse did you come up with before you found out she needed to wear it?
Jealous. Too hot here. Everything is dying.
Our pile is 3 years old. Ack. Mostly because I refuse to clean the study since J said he would do it. 3 years ago.

YAY for the little soccer scorer! And the dining room! I'm all for more space to live.

Oh and too funny about the crown and the flowers. My hubby but in drip watering AND programmed it! Crazy how well it all works. I suddenly get it too lol.

OK... that was creepy. I remember when I was 16, we were boating and my mom backed a huge boat into the marina. When we got on land, this guy walks up, touches my mom's shoulder, and says: "Wow! You are beautiful and that was amazing. A woman that can back a boat into a marina. I want to marry you." Her, at the time, 5 children were standing off to the side, very confused. CREEPY!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have been super surprised. My husband totally dropped the issue. Another reason I love the man. Can't hold a grudge to save his life. Didn't hurt that I made his favorite blueberry muffins for breakfast:).
