Really, the whole post is pathetic.

*I just came back from the washroom at work, where I stood (only for a split second) with my wet hands underneath the automatic hand dryer wondering why it wasn’t turning on. It was the paper towel dispenser.

*Homer is sick (again… still) and he spends a lot of the night coughing, sneezing, blowing his nose and thrashing about the bed. I think he coughs extra loud just to make sure I know he is suffering. Truthfully, the extra drama makes me ignore him more than I would if his suffering was authentic.

*For the first time in awhile today we’ve had a break in the frigid temperatures, although they promise to return by Saturday. It’s still minus 3c, but believe me, it’s a nice break. I’m betting the neighbourhood skating rink will be packed tonight.

*We’re buying our new fridge and range this weekend. The oven part on my range has been broken for almost a month (no baking for me - waaah ), so I’m really excited to be getting something new. The model we picked has a gas top with the extra burner in the middle and a griddle attachment, a convection oven and a warming drawer. The fridge is bigger than the one we have now (22cu.ft vs. 18cu.ft) and has an automatic icemaker. We were going to get the kind with the water dispenser in the door, but decided that the extra expense wasn’t worth it and that the kids would probably abuse it and we’d constantly have a puddle of cold, filtered water on the floor.

*Homer arranged with the bank to take out enough cash to make the appliance purchase. They’re very curious as to why he needs so much cash. I just prefer to not buy these types of things (anything) on credit, but Homer is having fun with the bank people and acting all shifty-eyed and evasive.

*This morning I let Lisa choose between two different soups for her thermos. She chose one, saying it looked the best and that Mrs Teacher said that she always had the best-looking lunches. Thank you. Thank you. If only there were a prize. Seriously, why am I so proud of this? Pathetic.

I think this is the vicious cycle of sick husbands. They exaggerate how bad they're feeling, and their wives feel less sympathetic because of it, so they exaggerate further to get more sympathy, and so on. If only they would learn that authentic distress is the best way to get sympathy. And not being sick wimps.

Hmm. Um. Hmm.

Don't they have checkbooks in Canada?

"They" do, but I don't. :-)

LOL, one of THOSE days. I would love for someone to compliment me on my sons lunch. He is a terrible eater. Can't wait to see photos of your new appliances (hint hint).

Heh, shifty eyed... love it!

Also, I would be proud of my child's teacher said that about his/her lunches down the road!! Love that!

Agreed on sick husbands being PATHETIC... like do you know how many times I walk from our room every night to get the baby or help the toddler through a bad dream? Seriously get over the cough ;)

sick husbands BAH!!! I'm sympathetic til the acting starts and then I just want to hurt mine.

O's lunches are dinner leftovers so his teachers always tell him the same thing! They've jokingly requested that we send some for them so I think they're getting a meatloaf the next time we make it for dinner. my sister and I actually compete for who has the best lunch since our kids are in the same class. Now THAT is pathetic.
Soooooo jealous of your new oven!

That sounds like a kick-ass stove!!!!! Jealous!!!!!!

Josie came home one time and told me that the lunch aides at her school said that I made the best lunches at the school. I was disturbingly proud of myself. Hey, I'm a SAHM - I take what I can get!

Oooh, make me lunch! I think that is a great compliment. And I would love to have nice lunches. And a new stove and fridge too. I am jealous about your stove/oven the most. A warming drawer is what I need!

New appliances are so exciting! I can't wait to get some. Though I would probably put them on my credit card just for the added buyers insurance, then we would pay them off right away because I hate debt!

I would be so proud of the lunch thing too. When I worked at the school it was so easy to fall into judge parenting based on the lunches. of course my kids had the lamest lunches:)

My favorite part of building our house 2 1/2 years ago was picking out all new appliances. My dad was a General Electric appliance salesman for 33 years; I think i have an affliction.

And I think we're all in some sort of bloggy foggy (ha, I rhymed)
