Oh look... another random list.

How did it get to be Tuesday again so soon? One of these days I'll post something organized and coherent... but not today! A few random items:

Friday night for Bart and Homer was spent in the ER. Bart split his chin on the monkey bars just before we picked him up from the babysitter's house. After waiting for almost three hours, they simply cleaned the wound and glued it shut. One minute of care. Next time, I'm buying a tube of Krazy Glue and calling it a day. While the boys were at the hospital, I fed the girls and cleaned the whole main floor, including washing down the walls and doors. Cleaning is my form of pacing, it seems.

Homer spent the rest of the weekend sick in bed. He is a terrible sick person. He moans and complains and demands. If he's awake he's grumpy, snapping at everyone to be quiet and stop bugging him. If you call him on it he says "I'M SICK!" Duh. He's much better today, which is good news for all of us.

In a very uncharacteristic move, I bought a Pashmina shawl. I KNOW! I'm not one to accessorize much, but everyone around here is wearing scarves, shawls, etc. so I bought one for my friend who I thought could totally pull off the trend. The one I bought is a teal green colour and when I was showing another friend, she convinced me to keep it for myself. So I did. The first time I ventured out in it, Homer asked me why I was wearing a tablecloth, but he's mean that way.

Lisa and I are off to the Opera tonight. You may remember that she performed in her school's production of The Magic Flute last spring. Tonight is the dress rehearsal for a professional opera company's version of the play and they gave Lisa's school access to tickets for only $5 each. She's pretty excited, especially because it ends at 10:30, which is way WAY past her bedtime. On a school night.

Friday is Halloween, which of course means Halloween parties at school. Lisa's teacher sent a note requesting healthy contributions to the snack table (e.g. fruit, veggies and dip, pretzels). Bart's teacher's note said that the children should bring their own healthy snack and then would be allowed to pick one treat from the snack table. Anything left over would be sent home with the children in baggies. Is it just me, or does this suck? Halloween is not supposed to be healthy. What's next, raisins in their treat bags? I think a better solution to cut down on the potential gluttony is to ask parents to only send enough treats for about 5 kids. That way there wouldn't be so many options on the table, but it would still be more fun than veggies and dip. By the way, I'm sending them with Rice Krispies squares. I'm such a rebel.

Tomorrow is Maggie's birthday. If I can get my act together, I'm going to post pictures of all three kids at age 3. *sniff*

"I'M SICK!" Heh. I'm going to just say that randomly when I'm grouchy.

Yay for the shawl! You deserve it. And Homer's tablecloth comment, well, that *is* kind of funny, but only if he wasn't serious. :)

Healthy contributions for Halloween? I dunno, that seems taking things a bit far. I mean, bad-for-you candy is the whole point of Halloween! I can see teachers wanting healthy snack options available on a daily basis, but not for this.

Happy Birthday, Maggie!

We had apples for the healthy snack at K's school party. At least they're fall-ish.

I brought back three pashmina shawls from India, and I love wearing them. At first I felt silly, but now I love them. Post a picture!

I hope Bart is feeling better. Homer, too.

One night of unhealthy food is okay. Making any food "bad" ALL THE TIME is how food issues start. Go, Rice Krispies!

I hope you post the pictures at three. What a sweet, sweet post that will be!

Poor Bart! And yes, just keep crazy glue for little scrapes that can be glued together. Much cheaper.

I clean when I am nervous or stressed too. And I am about to kill the dog with all the dog boogers and marks he is leaving on my walls. WTF?

My husband is the same way. He moans too. Like he is dying an excruciating death. Of course, I have zero sympathy as a nurse and just tell him to take medication and suck it up like the rest of us.

Maggie is almost 3? Your baby! Time flies by way too fast.

Send some rice krispie bars this way. And any other junk food, candy, etc. We'll take it! Healthy Halloween, no fun!

Well, at least the kids get to celebrate Halloween at school. Down South, my children are only allowed to celebrate Christian sanctioned holidays in the public schools. Christmas and Easter. That's it. No fun spidery cookies or rice krispie treats for us. I should take a leaf out of your rebel book and send pumpkin cupcakes for Easter.

Bah Humbug.

Oh, Maggie is 3!!! WOW!

Much like Homer’s comment, Hub, when I asked if he liked my new coat (It’s kind of tweed), said “Yes, on my Aunt Gail.” Meaning it was an old lady coat. He’s a meanie too. And also a huge baby when sick.

and I totally agree on the treats for Halloween .. its a candy holiday ... good compromise on the rice krispie treats .. :)

I was just musing with co-workers about my mourning of the Halloween party. This year, Mr. A and I are giving each other Halloween baskets. I am so excited!

Ooo! Get your act together! I want to see those 3-year-old picture comparisons!

YES, I agree with you about Halloween. You're SUPPOSED to get your kids nearly sick (just this side of puking) on candy, so they get it out of their systems at least until Christmas.

One time I actually listened to the Fun Killer teacher and brought in cracker spiders, which the kids all understandably ignored as they scarfed down the cupcakes that the other mothers' brought.
