We have had a digital camera for 4 years… just after Bart was born. Every single picture we have taken is sitting on our hard drive. The hard drive that puffs and chugs and sounds like it might not make it through the next Pajama Sam adventure.
So, here’s my question: where do you store your digital pictures? Do you save it to a DVD? A flash drive? An online service? What’s the best way to go?
Not one of my kids has a baby book (Lisa’s was started… I got as far as putting in the ultrasound pics), but I always think it would be a good thing to do someday. My biggest fear is losing all those pictures before I get around to it (like, when I retire).

Ours our on our hard drive and we need to save them.
But ...
My friend does scrapbooks and then at the end of the year (one scrapbook for each year) she downloads all the year's pictures on to a cd and tapes it into the scrapbook. Genius.
Mind you, I only scrapbooked Matt's first year. I guess I should get on that.
Uh, on our hardrive until my husband puts them all on DVDs and then I never see them again... :(
Laural - It's the pressure to scrapbook (rather than just throw them in an album) that has prevented me from making the baby book. When faced with an overwhelming task, I choose the (oh so productive) path of "do nothing".
Beck - I'm still waiting to see vacation pics we took that my husband decided to upload to his computer at work! Whatever the solution, he will not be involved!
We do a CD for each year. My baby is only 15 months old and I'm still finding the baby book project impossible. I cannot REMEMBER any of the shit I am supposed to record in there.
I chose a processor (Snapfish) that stores all the photos I upload. So that's one place I keep them safe. But Paul also puts them on CDs for me, just in case.
We have the same problem. I need to remind my husband to back them up and SOON. I bet he hasn't done that for at least a year. (He puts them on CD's.)
We burn ours to DVD and store them in a fire box with the important documents. Stuff to grab when disaster hits, you know.
I have a hard drive that I put them on, burn them on dvd's that I keep meaning to put in a safe deposit box, and upload a bunch to costco. I am totally paranoid of loosing them. I actually hate to take them off the sd cards, I just want to keep buying new ones.
Mine are on my hard drive, uploaded to shutterfly, and then placed on cd.
Always a back-up in case something craps out.
