BUSTED!

My brother and sister-in-law announced on the weekend that they would be moving to London, England for three years for my brother’s job. He’s a big-wig at a major international firm and this new post will set him up to be a bigger-wig when he returns to Canada. Right now, they live about 15 minutes from me and we see them often. My nephew and niece (ages 6 and 3) and my kids get along famously.

Obviously this is a big upset in our family, especially for my parents, who are used to seeing their grandchildren at least once a week. They will return home often and have decided to hold onto their beautiful home here so that it’s available to them on visits home and when they return, which is small comfort to my folks.

I decided to set up a family blog, where we can post pictures, stories, videos, etc. so the miles between us don’t feel so daunting. Everyone is on board and intrigued by the idea, so hopefully it will take off.

Homer mentioned this morning as we drove to work that he noticed I had been working on the family blog and wondered how I even knew how to do that. I just told him that, “I know stuff”. He laughed and asked if I had any other blogs. I told him I did and he asked a bunch more questions. I didn’t tell him the name of the blog or anything about it, except that it was a “mom blog”. I ultimately told him that I didn’t want him reading it because I didn’t want him to tell me how lame it is. He agreed.

As he dropped me off, he said “Have a good day, Marge.” When I looked back at him, he had a goofiest grin on his face.

The bugger knew all along.

That's simultaneously really funny and also slightly alarming. At least he thought it was funny. That's why I have never made an attempt to pretend to anyone that I do not have a blog. I would get busted so quick.

LOL funny. My hubby knows about mine but refuses to read it. He says it is my personal space. I tell him complete strangers read it, but he still refuses. Oh Well.

Mine knows and reads it and laughs at me ... every once in awhile. Like when I ate all the mini eggs! BUSTED!

Oh, shit - my jaw hit the floor! Arg....

A. and I are thinking of creating a family blog, too! A. has let it slip that I have a blog - how awkward will that be to explain to his folks that my blog is off limits? Bah.

Ah! He knew all along! No way!

And he didn't let on. Well, I like that. So, do you think it will change what you say or how you say it now that you know he knows?

Heh. Well at least now you know that HE knows.

This is a topic close to my heart, since BR knows about my blog but doesn't read, AS FAR AS I KNOW. I'm pretty sure he doesn't, since I know he wouldn't be able to resist criticizing if he did.

I don't mind if he reads, but not if he's going to criticize. That's the deal.

Hilarious. Jim reads mine pretty regularly, as far as I know, but has never criticized, so it's fine.

Misty - why change? I've been pretty nice to the guy, so far...

that's tough about your family moving - my brother moved to boston for a few years and it was hard - i really missed them. but, the bonus was that we got to visit them frequently and I know feel like i know boston pretty well as a result! how fun it will be to visit london with your family and have a "home base" there, plus family who knows where and what to do! funny about your husband - mine knows about my blog but rarely reads it!

Ha! That cracks me up. I sometimes wonder if TM reads it secretly. I don't think he does, mostly because I think he wouldn't find it interesting, but you never know. I love that he called you Marge.

Ha, good old Homer...

I didn't think you would need to change anything. You have been very kind! Although I am sure it is not sheer benevolence; I am sure he really is a nice guy, good husband, good daddy.
