Monday's random thoughts.

*I'm at work. The kids don't have school, so they are at the babysitter's today. For those of you keeping a tally, that's an extra $35 the school board is costing me because they give the kids/teachers a day off that is not a statutory holiday.

*If you haven't guessed it, I'm grumpy.

*The weekend was a lot of fun. There was lots of candy and chocolate. Maggie was most pissed this morning that she couldn't take her basket of treats to daycare with her.

* I made this cake. The kids were very impressed.

Poor guy's a little hard of hearing now, if you know what I mean. Hee.

* On Friday, I'm going to Chicago with my four best friends. We do a lot of talking, saying we're going to get together, go away together, etc., but this time we're actually doing it. We have plane tickets and hotel reservations and everything. We're using aliases when we go out on the town. I will be Kate.

* My brother is relocating to London, England in under a month with his wife and two children. Because they will only be there for 3 years, they are looking for rentals. He expects to spend the equivalent of $17,000 a month on rent. You read that correctly.

*My aunt, who is a serious shopaholic and the most generous person I know, gave me two full bags of clothes she had purchased for my kids. Included was a snowsuit for each child for next year, complete with matching hats & mittens, and two full outfits for each kid, including socks and underwear. I have never had to buy a snowsuit for my kids... they have always been provided by my awesome aunt.

Hope you're having a great day!

Great cake!

One of my good friends is doing a rotation in London, and housing is RIDICULOUS there. They have a freaking PALATIAL home in Houston and their London rent is DOUBLE their mortgage for a tiny efficiency apartment. GAH!

Awesome cake.

What a cute cake! Yay you!
Unbelievable what the cost of living is in England, wow.
How nice to have such an awesome aunt, my dh has a great aunt like that, she always filled the kids drawers when they were small.

I'm very impressed by the cake too.

Have fun in Chicago! I hope we got all the bad weather out of the way for you!

slynnro - he's not an accountant, but he's with a very large "professional services" organization that does accounting. I know, Rock Star would have been more interesting, but there you have it.

Oh, Kate. ;)

(You know, if I could ditch this repulsive moniker given to me by a too young mother after the death of the 70's, I would be a Cate myself. Short for Catherine. Isn't that nice? I think so.)

I never get to buy my kids ANY clothes, thanks to a shopoholic mother of mine, that shall remain nameless.

SO glad you are getting out of town; it's the greatest thing in the world. Funny thing is, you and I have the same ALIAS!!! Wonder if our Kates have the same occupation, too...

The cake? AWESOME.

If your aunt would like to spend more money, send her my way!!!

I am so jealous that you are going away...with friends no less!! I told hub that all I want for Mother's Day is a weekend alone in a nice hotel. Aaaaah.

Yay for clothes too!

Would your aunt like to add two more boys, ages 7 and 11, to her shopping list? :)

London is crazy expensive. I hope your brother gets a good housing stipend while there!

PS Fabulous cake :)

Holy crap! I hope his salary in London is just as inflated as the cost of living! Geez.
Also, isn't it great having people who like to shop spoil you? I haven't bought a snowsuit yet either, or much of anything else besides the random play clothes and onesies and socks. If anything, for awhile there we had too many clothes, it was ridiculous. Everyone decided to buy her a summer dress last year, and by June she had like TEN fluffy little sundresses. I was like, "You guys, pass that shopping love on to her MOMMY now, kthx!"

I would've eaten the bunny ears first, too! Yummy.

$17,000 A MONTH?! I can't even comprehend. Will his London salary adjust as well?
