In case you thought I was kidding...

Yesterday morning at the bus stop, I realized that I had forgotten to put Bart's show-and-tell in his backpack. He looked very disappointed, so I reached into my pocket to see if there was anything in there. I pulled out my work keys and $0.39. I needed my keys, so I sent my four-year-old off to school with some coins.

He told me that he showed his money at show-and-tell and said it was to buy a Wonka Bar. He said the teacher laughed.

Not the mother of the year, indeed.

You officially rock in my books.

Hey, at least you gave him something! My parents' approach was always, "Hey, you should have packed your own show-and-tell, so, tough luck!"

I actually thought it was kind of ingenius. ;)

He may remember that when he is older and laugh and laugh. It might be his favorite childhood story. You never know!

I agree with Misty. Sheer brilliance. You can think on your feet, girl.

Plus - it makes a great story for later. "Remember when you sent me to show-and-tell with 39 cents?"

My son took a candle off the kitchen shelf to show and tell yesterday, so I'm NOT JUDGING.
I HATE show and tell. HATE.

Ah, this story just rocks! And hey at least you had something in your pocket! Can you imagine the story your son would have had to come with about pocket lint?!

heh - I thought later that I was wearing a down coat, so could have pulled a feather out.

Hey - you got him to the bus stop, right? As far as I am concerned, you are already ahead.

The prospect of show-and-tell fills me with fear. This is exactly the kind of thing that I will fail miserably at.

Ha. And ha. And how smart is he, having a story to go along with his mother's spare change?

At least you get points for creativity and quick thinking. We'll never be without show and tell material - at school they call O's bag the "bottomless backpack" because there are always multiple things snuck from home inside

This happened to me when I was in first grade, and my mother informed me that I would "showing and telling" a burn that I gotten the night before. That went over well.

flibberty - and clearly you remember this scarring (no pun intended) incident from when you were 6 years old. Poor Luke.
